These paper flowers can be made from leftover party streamers, and you can make an entire bouquet while watching TV.

Easy Paper Flower Ideas

The most attractive flowers in the world aren’t necessarily real flowers. You can make beautiful, chic flowers using cardboard. And people likely won't expect them to last as long as grocery store blooms. HGTV Handmade’s Marianne Canada makes paper flowers that look like they came out of a celebrity pop-up event. Her secret hack? Crepe streamers. Yes, you can make flowers with cheap rolls of crepe streamers that you ordinarily just throw in your garbage. You can even buy them at the dollar store! Watch the video to learn about three amazing paper flowers you can make from party streamers.

Material Requirement:

  1. crepe paper streamers

  2. glue dots

  3. floral stems

  4. green masking tape

  5. pinking shears

  6. scissors

Material Requirement:

Preparation Materials

Before making each flower, pre-cut tape pieces for the flower base. You’ll need two pieces of tape for each flower. Cut a corner off of each tape piece to make it a cone shape.

The Rose Paper Flower

Stretch a crepe streamer to make a ruffle back and forth and wrap two glue dots on a floral stem about 1 inch from the edge. Wrap the crepe paper around the stem in a pleat on the unstretched side of the streamer. Keep the edge of the streamer stretched to near the top of the floral stem and push the flower up if it drifts down the stem. Once completed, secure the flower to the floral stem with two pieces of green tape.

Carnation Paper Flower

Fold an accordion fold crepe streamer at about 3 inches in width. Using pinking shears, carefully trim the trimmed edge, then use scissors to cut 1/4-inch slits along the pinked edge with about 1/2-inch remaining at the bottom.

Wrap the green tape around the floral stem one inch from the top, wrap the crepe paper around the stem, pleating the uncut edge of the streamer as you wrap. Make sure the wrapping stays at the top of the floral stem, pushing the flower up if it falls down.

Paper Flower Spider Mum

A 4-foot piece of crepe streamer. Accordion folds the streamer piece at about 3 inches. Using scissors, cut very thin slivers into the folded paper, leaving about half an inch uncut at the bottom. Trim to make pointed ends, if desired.

Place two glue dots on the top of each floral stem. Put two pieces of green tape on each flower stem about 1 inch from the top. Wrap the crepe paper around the floral stem, pleating the uncut edge as you wrap it. Don't let the flower drift downwards during wrapping.
