These 6 Tips Will Get You Back to Balance

1.   You cannot do everything at once.

You only have so much time, energy, money, etc. You are unable to please everyone with everything you accomplish since you are only one person.

Then, breathe deeply and take a moment for yourself.

You don't have to be perfect or solve all problems for everyone. You don't have to do everything.

It’s okay.

 2.   Manage yourself, not the clock.

The idea of “time management” is misleading.

The time available to us is the same. We have the exact same 24 hours in one day.

Most of us would like an extra few hours of sleep to finish a project, or a few more hours to finish a chore.

Self-management is being proactive and realizing the power of choice, and knowing what you can afford not to do.

 3.   Added or subtracted.

What is a task you are willing to stop doing in order to accomplish something more vital in another field?

Doing a new thing requires you to do a new thing. You must be willing to cut out some activities from your schedule, even temporarily, to take on new priorities.

Feel overwhelmed lessens automatically when you realize which tasks can be left until the weekend, and which can be done once a week.

Consider your 'A' people in your life.

You know you're with someone who's in the A-category if he’s uplifting you. He believes that you can do it. When he is there, he brings something to you.

When you're with someone like this, you stay the same kind of way as before.

In most cases your "C" list should be saved into a circular file, terminated or discarded. Granted that this is often impossible. However, those in your list are normally draining and add unnecessary stress to your life.

An energizing person empowers you, inspires you to reach new heights, and gives strength rather than stresses you. They inspire you to be energized and solidify your position in the world.

 4.   Don't be a bully.

What will you do...?”

Are you able to...?”

The only favor I need is...”

You can always be trusted.”

I’m so impressed by...

Did these messages flatter you or frustrate you?

Is it better if you say no or is it better if you say yes? Occasionally we say yes to things because we feel pressured to respond immediately. However, you always have the right to take your time until you have thought about what you should do.

Knowing when to refuse gives your yeses more power. It helps you manage your stress and balance your life.

 5.   Take care of you.

Who will care for you if you don’t?

Who can help you preserve your health and well-being if you don’t take time and make steps to preserve it?

Being close with people in your life can be very fulfilling, but you cannot ignore being your own best friend first.

To make sure your family and friends get the best from you, make sure you bring what makes you comfortable, fit, or joyful now. That takes a deliberate effort on your part. To do the right thing, schedule a time and place for yourself to bring what makes you comfortable, healthy, or joyful.

You should schedule time a day to read, walk, or rest, if you want to be your best you need to ensure that. When you have busy schedules, you need to also schedule time to replenish yourself.

 6.   Live a purposeful life!

It is much easier to maintain a balanced life when it is centered around an authentic, meaningful, and passionate purpose.

There are no perfect, one-size-fits-all balance plans.

We all have a different set of priorities and live in varied circumstances, so each of us needs a different life balance plan.

It reminds us to maintain balance from time to time. There is no “last” time to clean our homes, care for our kids, take care of our own health, or accomplish some goals.

Even after retirement, there is always something to do.

It's great that we have a choice about what to do with our lives and who to spend time with.

Begin taking action today to reclaim your sense of control and life balance!
